Thursday Countdown: Maranatha hosts Pasadena Poly; South Pas hopes to keep it rolling


Thursday night countdown
One of the more intriguing games between small private schools takes place when Maranatha (4-1) hosts Pasadena Poly (3-1-1) at 7 p.m.

Poly has gone 3-0-1 since losing its season opener to Temple City while Maranatha returns after its first loss of the season, falling to Brentwood 42-3.

South Pasadena (4-1) is getting ready for the Rio Hondo League with its final nonleague tuneup at home against Eagle Rock (3-1) at 7 p.m.

The Eagles were unbeaten until last week’s 44-27 loss to Faifax. South Pasadena’s only loss was to still unbeaten Santa Clarita Christian on Sept. 1.

Bassett (2-3) plays its final nonleague game against Loara (1-3) at Glover Stadium in Anaheim at 7 p.m.
The Olympians turned in their best performance of the season last week, beating Sierra Vista 49-41.

Thursday’s predictions
Pasadena Poly at Maranatha — MARANATHA
Eagle Rock at South Pasadena — SOUTH PAS
Bassett vs. Loara at Glover Stadium — LOARA
