Coaches Join New Support Programme

British Shooting coaches have been selected to join UK Coaching Performance Foundations Coach Support Programme.Eight Coaches across Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun have been selected to join a new initiative which see them gain 1-2-1 support within their coaching environment(s). Coaches join a cohort of 38, across eight sports over an 18 month period.Run by the Talent and Performance team at UK Coaching – Alan Rapley, Kerry Gribble and Mark Bateman, all of whom have a deep understanding of performance sports coaching and learning. The programme is designed specifically to develop coaches working with talented athletes who have the potential to win medals.The selected coaches are:Zoe Bruce – RifleAndrew Nimmo – RifleCraig Dower – RifleIain Aberdeen – PistolDavid Dale – ShotgunJohn Bellamy – ShotgunAllen Warren – ShotgunChris Dean – ShotgunThis programme is a collaboration between UK Coaching and UK Sport offering a great partnership opportunity for British Shooting and its coaches.Through the programme, coaches will have opportunity to expand their knowledge, broaden their understanding, challenge their thinking, develop their insight and enhance their coaching practice by hearing from industry experts and meeting experienced coaches from the talent and high performance domain.British Shootings People Development Manager Kurt Lindley said: We are extremely pleased with this news, especially to get the cross section of coaches and disciplines engaged in the programme. "We are excited about what the next 12-18 months will bring and how the cross discipline learning will help move the sport to a new space when it comes to coach development.“What our coaches have to say:Ian Aberdeen – Pistol: "I’m very excited to be part of this new initiative and pleased to be part of a program that is centralised on developing the coach to be the ‘best they can be’.
