Coaches Join Support Programme

Four more British Shooting coaches have been accepted onto the UK Coaching Performance Foundation Coach Support Programme, (joining eight of their colleagues already on the programme).Through the programme, coaches will have opportunity to expand their knowledge, broaden their understanding, challenge their thinking, develop their insight and enhance their coaching practice by hearing from industry experts and meeting experienced coaches from the talent and high performance domain.The programme is a collaboration between UK Coaching and UK Sport offering a great partnership opportunity for British Shooting and its coaches.Congratulations to the following successful coaches:Paul TaylorMike BabbPaul GoaterMargaret ThomasRun by the Talent and Performance team at UK Coaching – Alan Rapley, Kerry Gribble and Mark Bateman, all of whom have a deep understanding of performance sports coaching and learning, the programme is designed specifically to develop coaches working with talented athletes who have the potential to win medals.Paul Taylor, said: British Shooting has supported my coach development to the highest international standards. This new and exciting opportunity with UK Coaching, offers me the excellent opportunity to further develop as a coach whilst working with our talent and high-performance athletes. For the next 18 months, I will have a specialist Coach Developer and will work with coaches from other sports to widen my horizons and improve the coaching support we provide our athletes.Pistol coach, Margaret Thomas, said: Im delighted to be accepted onto the UK coaching programme and Im sure the interaction with other coaches, and the ability to work with a mentor, will help me to develop my skills further so that I can help our athletes succeedPaul Goater, said: Im thrilled to be selected for the performance Foundation coach support programme, and look forward to improving my coaching skills and practices, enabling me to have a better, faster impact on my athletes development.I am convinced that the interaction with other coaches and other sports will help bring new techniques and capabilities to my shooting coaching.
