Rifle Run Success

British Shooting teamed up with the Army Benevolent Fund, EJ Churchills and WMP Events Company to deliver the first Rifle Run event on Sunday 18th March around the snow-capped grounds of the West Wycombe Estate.Rifle Run was a charity event, where participating (and in most cases fundraising as well) athletes were supporting The Soldiers Charity the Armys National Charity.Despite the snow and treacherous weather conditions over the weekend, 69 athletes crossed the finish line, completing the 10km cross country run, interspersed by three shooting stations; 1. Air Rifle Prone, 2. Air Rifle Standing and 3. Clay Target.The team of fantastic volunteers delivered two Air Rifle shooting stations which were based on the shooting element to Target Sprint, with knock-down targets at a 10m distance.For full results, click here.Fastest Male: Jamie Pearson (Time: 10:05:01)Fastest Female: Kathryn Clarke & Georgie Shortman (Time: 11:00:00) No-one had a perfect shooting score throughout the event, but top scoring athletes with 19 out of 20 Hits were:Phil Boast 5/4/10 = 19 hitsWarren Burbage 5/5/9 = 19 hitsOliver Cole 5/4/10 = 19 hitsTo add to the challenge of running 10km in the snow, for each target athlete missed they faced a 250m penalty loop! (Full Shoot Score Results click here). Ryan Libbey from tv show Made in Chelsea was one of the athletes who braved the weather and competition conditions, showing off his perfect rifle shooting skills (10/10 hits), and finishing up with 8/10 clay target hits. This put his shoot score in joint 2nd Place. Gorgs Geikie, Events and Commercial Coordinator, said: Wed like to say a huge thank you to Marlow Rifle Club and all the team of volunteers who helped to ensure all the athletes achieved their best on the Air Rifle Shooting Stations and being true ambassadors of our sport and British Shooting.Also, a special thank you to Eley for supporting British Shooting set up the Air Rifle Shooting Stations and sponsoring the air pellet ammunition.
